Curiouser and Curiouser

To continue on with the Alice in Wonderland Theme from yesterday, I present to you The Hatter:

The story behind Alice in Wonderland is very interesting, and one that I learned a lot about in Oxford when I was there on business. The Hatter in Alice in Wonderland was based on a furniture shop owner in Oxford, England who wore a top hat around all of the time. Apparently he would chase people down the street asking for payment. (This was said on a tour and I cannot substantiate or negate this fact).

When I made this card, I tried to go for a mix between old Alice in Wonderland cartoon and the new Johnny Depp look in the dress and hair. I really wanted the purple and green, but it needed something else, so the turquoise was a happy accident.

I used the YG1x series, the V1x series and the BG0x series for the main colors.

Have a GREAT week! See you again soon hopefully!

Muse Monday

Muse Monday over at Bombshell Stamps. This month we are showcasing Girls Ruin. And despite the extreme dip in temperatures here (It was around 90 on Tuesday, and barely 60 on Thursday), Spring was calling me.

I used the smaller image and one of the banners from Girls Ruin.  I thought this was  a great card for a girls weekend in Vegas. High heels, a bit of moolah, and some lipstick.

I hope you all have a great week. And come back on Wednesday. I have another card ready for the Bombshell Color Challenge.

Talk to you soon!!!

Far East is FAR OUT!

SCACD has released some GORGEOUS new Carmen Medlin Digital images. By some I mean FIFTEEN!!!! Yep that is right - 15 new digital images designed by Carmen Medlin for SCACD. There is a lot of different images  - fantasy, steampunk, wonderland, etc... You can find a little bit of everything in this release.

The first image I have colored is Far East!

I loved this  - It has a little bit of everything to color. Fish, Hair, beautiful lady, flowers, mountains, WOW. Gorgeous and so much fun to play with. With these gorgeous images I find that I try to let the image be the centerpiece and keep the cards as simple as possible. It just highlights all the detail.

Her skin is E51, 53, 55 with a touch of R20 on her cheeks. Her hair is Cool greys, and the water is the BG70,72, 75 series. Reds are R35, 37, 39. Greens YG61. 63. 67 and oranges YR61, 65, 68. And then a little bit of Y11, and Y13, gold.

When I was done with coloring the image, I looked at different ways to frame it. But it just didn't work quite right until I fussy cut it out. It just looked beautiful on the red. A little oriental paper in the back and BOOM. Finished card.

The Images are all available now over at SCACD. So why not head on over and find your perfect image to let your creative spark ignite!

I have  a few more images I have colored and hope to finish and post later this week and next. Hope you come back soon.

Check out what the wonderful ladies have done with this beautiful sketch and then take a stab at it yourself. And maybe you can win some rubber... then you can have a party too!!!!

My Card for my Mommy!!!!

So I had a relatively great Mothers' day. My oldest graduated yesterday, and is back home griping about the doggy gate, letting the doggies get muddy and then having to wash them. :-)

My youngest made me a "cruise card" where she will get me whatever I want on the cruise this summer (with fine print saying does not include alcohol or gambling). I was very excited, until she realized she left off the other fine print... that said "only works once". LOL.

For my own mom, we had them over for dinner, and I gave mom the below card.

The inside says :

:-) I am such a snarky daughter.

I typed up the sentiment and the image is a digi image from SCACD digital called Folk Heart Bird.

I used B12, 14, 16 and E11, 13 for the Bird body.  I really love the mix of the blues and browns on this bird. And then I HAD to add the bling... cuz what would the card be without the bling? :-)

I hope everyone has a great week!!!! See you all soon!

Like shooting fish in a square barrel

It's the beginning of the month... and that means... Ms. Mays challenge. And she has challenged us to go all square!

I used the two fish from Lotus Garden and had them swimming in a beautiful square pond on a square grassy area on a square card.

I used YR02, 07, 09 for the oranges, and the Neutrals for the black. I then cut out the fish and added them here. I really liked being all splotchy like some of the koi I see pictures of.

I hope you all take a chance at our challenge this month. We would love to see all your creativity - only inside the box this time.

:-)
